Orient Cement's CFO steps down

Sushil Gupta, Chief Financial Officer of Orient Cement (part of CK Birla Group) has stepped down from his role due to personal reasons. The company shared this information in a stock exchange filing. 

Gupta is a Chartered Accountant with rich experience in varied areas of Finance. In his career spanning over 23 years, he has worked on managing accounts, finance, audit, legal and secretarial, investor relation and IT function. Effectively managed finance for large manufacturing/mining organizations. Further has in-depth exposure to commercial, administrative, production and logistics functions. 

During his professional career, he was associated with multiple companies in key positions such as Essar Offshore, Adani Mining, Vedanta Group : Sesa Goa, Sterlite, Konokla Copper Mines Zambia, Hindustan Zinc and Vikram Ispat (Unit of Grasim Industries). 

As his replacement, the company has appointed Soumitro Bhattacharyya, as the Chief Financial Officer of the Company w.e.f. January 29, 2020. Bhattacharyya has an experience of around 30 years across blue chip multinationals in diverse geographies and business verticals in finance and strategy.

He is a commerce graduate and his professional qualifications include MBA, Chartered Accountancy and Cost and Works Accountancy. Prior to joining the Company, he was working with Lafarge Holcim as the Chief Financial Officer, Holsim Australia.
