The Board of Vodafone Idea has appointed Suresh Vaswani as an Independent Director for three years with effect from February 8.

Vaswani comes with an extensive experience of about 34 years and has worked with various IT majors. Before Vodafone Idea, he was working as the General Manager-Solutions, Delivery and  Transformation at IBM. He has also worked with companies like Dell EMC, Dell, Wipro.

On his appointment, the company shared in media, "Vaswani brings a unique blend of experience through pivotal roles across two US Global IT majors - Dell Services and Wipro Limited as well as being at the helm of Tier 1 global Indian IT & BPO Services provider," said Vodafone Idea on Monday. At Wipro, he held the role of a Co-CEO for the company's IT Business. "

The company further added that during his career, he incubated several new businesses; built strong customer relationships across the globe; expanded into new markets; acquired several companies & divested non-strategic businesses; forged global JVs & alliances.

Vaswani is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. He is currently working as an external global advisor to Bain Consulting. He is also a Board member of Servion Inc., a technology company in the customer experience space and serves as a senior director on Everstone Capital where he plays the role of an operating advisor in their IT/BPO portfolios.
