Retrenchments equally challenging as retention
Many companies are facing the challenge of letting go poor performers in addition to retaining high performers. Among other things, differentiated incentive structures seem to be the most common trend to separate poor from the top performers. Besides that, organisations also employ other techniques such as directly branding top performers with an exclusive name. If despite all these techniques, an employee fails to perform well, s/he is asked to leave and that becomes a very challenging prospect for an employer.
