US shutdown: White House manages with 450 staffers
An ET report says that White House is managing with 450 staffers while it has 1,701 assigned staffers. The report points out that this arrangement – though it has led to leaner menu in the White House canteen and requires caution in certain other activities such as garbage disposal- has showed that the presidential establishment can make do with a quarter of its sanctioned staff.

The report points out that this arrangement – though it has led to leaner menu in the White House canteen and requires caution in certain other activities such as garbage disposal- has showed that the presidential establishment can make do with a quarter of its sanctioned staff.
Though that also means more caution when it comes to accumulating garbage — as it has to be cleaned out by staff not normally tasked with such activities —it could become the benchmark for White House and other generously staffed and budgeted offices, the report adds.
