History lessons with management guru Dr Athreya
The appetite for management learning has increased tremendously over the past four decades
Since the 60s, there has been a tremendous appetite for management learning in India. However, there was a frustration about implementation as that time we were a highly controlled licence permit Raj. So, a lot of the ideas could not find voice. But, soon after liberalization, Indian managers could get work done as they had invested heavily from 1970 onwards. Within that, there was a lot of interest in the public sector and so a lot of the talent made a beeline for the companies in the space. Soon, they moved to the private sector as well.
