The “Are You in the List” awards celebrate the achievements of young professionals in the Indian HR fraternity who are committed to maximising the return of organisational human capital investments. With the economic conditions and talent market dynamics indicating signs of increasing competition every passing day, improvements in human capital investments can come not just through effective processes but also through visionary leadership.

For becoming successful future HR leaders, an HR professional needs the tact, vision and execution capabilities to roll out initiatives and see them through completion. Without an objective assessment of an individual’s behavioural, emotional and intellectual capabilities, future success competencies are difficult to predict. The selection of the candidates is a rigorous five-stage process. It starts with the prospects filling an online application. Then, these applications are put through DDI’s Leadership Insight Inventory Tool, a leadership assessment, a video assessment, and finally the prospects are interviewed by HR and industry leaders.

The selection process will be overseen by a jury of some of the most experienced HR professionals in the HR and business landscape of India. The jury comprises some of the most prolific names in the industry who are respected for bringing forth pioneering thoughts and ideas in the disciple of talent and human resource management in India. The jury has an average experience of more than 15 years in people and talent management and have in-depth understanding of the working style and culture of Indian corporations. Collectively, they represent the entire spectrum of Indian industries. The jury is also comprised of some of the most recognised names in the global thought leadership and HR social media space. Additionally, the jury also represents the new and experienced generations of human resource leadership in India to bring balance to the assessment process. Also representing the jury are business leaders and CEOs who bring substantial and significant experience with them in terms of assessing business initiatives and their impact. In all, this is a jury with character.

The jury will assess the candidates, based not just on their objective assessments, but also judge their behavioural and personality traits. They will assess the video tests and also be part of the interview assessments. The key role of the jury in the assessment and selection process is that of a consultant. By bringing together the intelligence and collective experience of a diverse group of representatives in the human resources function, the selection process aims to capture the key attributes of professional success for a human resource professional.

The jury believes that effective future leadership will be a blend of learning and lessons from past best practices and new-age and visionary thinking of the future. Effective human resource organisations are led by leaders who can intuitively sense talent challenges of the future while maintaining a keen eye on past lessons. A strong HR organisation is thus built by processes and standards rooted solidly in effective global but tailored to meet local talent market preferences. Good talent management is also characterised by practices that are exportable.

The jury’s biggest role is to assess what characteristics will make future talent management effective and which young leaders of today have the vision and execution to become successful.
