HSBC has appointed former Citi executive Ashmita Acharya as its new head of wealth and personal banking effective January 18, 2023.
HSBC appoints Ashmita Acharya as head of its wealth and personal banking business

HSBC Singapore has announced the appointment of former Citibank head Ashmita Acharya as its new head of wealth and personal banking. Her appointment will be effective from January 18, 2023.

In her new role, she will report to Wong Kee Joo, chief executive of HSBC Singapore, and Greg Hingston, chief executive of HSBC global insurance and partnerships. Acharya will be responsible for overseeing HSBC’s retail banking, wealth management, insurance, asset management, and global private banking services.

Earlier, Acharya worked with Citibank as its retail banking head for Singapore. In her previous role, she was responsible for the wealth management and mortgage business growth rate. She also handled acquisition, segment proposition, client engagement and analytics for the bank's Asia-Pacific, European and Middle Eastern businesses. 

Acharya worked with Citibank for 20 years.

HSBC is hopeful that her experience across retail and wealth strategy, client proposition, digital experience and product development will be vital to propel the bank’s wealth and personal banking strategy.
