Tata Steel extends T V Narendran’s tenure for 5 years

Tata Steel, in an exchange filing on Monday, renamed T V Narendran as their MD and Chief Executive Office for another five years i.e. until September 2028. The 

The company stated further that, "Based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the Board considered and unanimously approved the re-appointment of Mr TV Narendran as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Company for a further period of five years effective September 19, 2023, through September 18, 2028, not liable to retire by rotation.” 

However, the re-appointment is yet to be approved by the company shareholders. Currently, Narendran continues to serve as CEO & MD until September 18, 2023, and the extended tenure will be effective thereafter, once approved.

In his role as CEO and MD for Tata Steel, Narendran directs the organic and inorganic growth of the company. With an extensive experience of 34 years in the Mining and Metals industry, he held several key positions including, the Board of Tata Steel Limited, Chairman of Tata Steel Europe and Tata Steel Long Products Ltd., and Chairman of the Board of Governors of XLRI Jamshedpur. 

Notably, Narendran held esteemed positions on the Executive Committee and Board of the prestigious World Steel Association. He previously served as co-chair of the Mining & Metals Governors Council at the renowned World Economic Forum from 2016 to 2018.

With recognition from the Indian National Academy of Engineering as a fellow, Narendran's expertise is further solidified. He also made significant contributions to the Indian Institute of Metals during his tenure as President from 2021 to 2022. His leadership prowess also extended to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), where he served as President during the same period. His remarkable achievements exemplify his commitment to excellence and his influence on a global scale.
