ET Awards Agenda for Renewal held in Mumbai

The ET Awards Agenda for Renewal, an agenda prepared under the auspices of The Economic Times, formed the theme of a discussion between the ministers and corporate leaders was held in Mumabi with finance minister Pranab Mukherjee as the chief guest. Some 350 chief executives from India's most prominent business houses were present, among them Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, Kumar Mangalam Birla of the Aditya Birla group, Sunil Mittal of Bharti and the Bajaj group's Rahul Bajaj.

Some 350 chief executives from India's most prominent business houses were present, among them Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, Kumar Mangalam Birla of the Aditya Birla group, Sunil Mittal of Bharti and the Bajaj group's Rahul Bajaj.

In his keynote address, Mukherjee said self-flagellation will serve no purpose and gave a call for united endeavour to solve the major problems facing the country. This year, ET did away with the Business Woman of the Year award, believing the time had come for India Inc's men and women to fight it out for the country's premier award. Chanda Kochhar was adjudged Business Leader of the Year. The other awardees include RS Sodhi as Corporate Citizen, Nandan Nilekani, as the right man for a unique challenge, Former RBI governor YV Reddy was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award while Vikram Pandit was adjudged the Global Indian.

Rahul Bhatia, the managing director of InterGlobe Enterprises was judged the Entrepreneur of the Year while Bajaj Auto was judged as Company of the Year and Narendra Murkumbi's Sugar Daddy the Emerging Company of the Year.
