Netflix Inc. has announced the promotion of Jessica Neal as Chief Talent Officer, leading the group responsible for culture, human resources, recruiting, and coaching the global team behind the world’s leading internet entertainment service.

Netflix shared the news through their media center recently.

I’m delighted to be back at Netflix as part of Reed’s leadership team, helping Netflix chart the future of global entertainment,” said Neal. “We’ve got a huge opportunity and an exciting set of challenges ahead of us,” Neal has said in the statement.

Neal is a Netflix veteran, starting at the company in 2006 when DVD was king and streaming just a dream, and has been heavily involved in improving the Netflix culture as the company grew.

In 2013 she left to become Head of human resources at Coursera, which provides online access to the world’s best university courses, and, later, Chief People Officer at Scopely, a leading player in the mobile gaming industry.

She returned to Netflix earlier this year, overseeing HR for the 2000-person product engineering team responsible for continuously improving the Netflix consumer experience.

“I’ve worked with Jessica a long time and have seen her operate with skill, confidence and integrity in many different situations,” said Reed Hastings, Netflix co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. “I’m confident she’ll be a great role model for our culture and push us to be ever better as people and as a global team.”

Neal also serves on the board of directors of the Association for Talent Development.
