Publicis Groupe has appointed Anupriya Acharya as the CEO of South Asia region after the announcement that Saurabh Varma, her predecessor, quit after 17 years at the agency.

Anupriya Acharya has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer, South Asia, Publicis Groupe. Her predecessor, Saurabh Varma, spent about 17 years with the agency and then quit.

Acharya began her career at Oglivy in 1994. She then worked with other agencies before joining Publicis Groupe in 2013 in the role of CEO of Zenith. By 2016, she was promoted to CEO of Publicis Media, where she led the teams at the Groupe media agencies ranging from Zenith, Starcom, and Performics. In her role as the CEO of Publicis Media, Acharya and her team have been able to more than double the operations in three years. They’ve focused on expanding the company’s digital media capabilities, services, analytics, content, commerce, and consulting. They began to add clients such as Parle, Fiat, Ola, GSK, Lenovo, Motorola, Nykaa etc.

Saurabh Varma, the current CEO of Publicis Communications, has decided to resign and pursue other opportunities and will be leaving the Groupe after working in the company for 17 years. According to Lold, Saurabh Varma has been instrumental in building a strong momentum at Publicis Communications.
