S Ramadorai steps down as chairman of NSDA, NSDC

As per the NSDA notice on the website, S Ramadorai has resigned as the chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and National Skill Development Agency (NSDA).  However, it did not mention any reason for his exit. The NSDA is an autonomous body which undertakes the task of harmonizing skill development efforts taken by the private and the government sector.

After his resignation, the speculation is that Ramodorai might be reckoned for the position of chairman of Tata Sons, as he has previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Tata Consultancy Services between 1996 and 2009. Also, he was appointed as Vice - Chairman of TCS; the post he continued to hold till October 2014.

Ramadorai has relentlessly worked in the public service domain since February 2011. In recognition of his work and contributions made to the IT industry, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan in January 2006.

Also, In February 2011, he was appointed as the adviser to the Prime Minister in the National Council on Skill Development by the government.

He is also the Chairman of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, AirAsia India and BSE.
