Sujaya Banerjee, Essar’s Chief Talent Officer resigns

Sujaya Banerjee, Chief Talent Officer and Senior Vice President (HR) at the Essar Group, has chosen to resign from the position and move ahead in her career, as per her LinkedIn post.

Speaking to People Matters, Sujaya confirmed the development and said: "I will make an announcement shortly on what that new challenge is. It is a very great and exciting challenge; it is the kind of stuff we need but have perhaps not seen before."

She was with the Essar group for more than 10 years, during which she designed and led the Performance and Talent Management programs, along with ensuring the effective implementation of contemporary HR practices uniformly across the several Essar Group Companies and 25 geographies, in order to deliver a singular and unique employee experience.

Her initiatives for the HR community and women in business shall continue unabated as she would take them along, she added.

In the interim, both the not-for-profit forums I created -the Learning and OD Roundtable (which has over 12,000 members) and the Women Leadership Forum of Asia (which has 4,000 members) continue doing the good work they have been doing to serve the community. Because I created these forums while I was working at Essar, there is sometimes a misconception that these forums belong to Essar. They don't; I am the founder of both forums, and I want the members to know that the forums move with me. Our five centers- Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad continue with great gusto, and I will continue to lead them, notwithstanding my moving from Essar.”

Sujaya, who holds a Ph.D. from Mumbai University and an MBA from NMIMS, Mumbai, has a rich experience of 26 years in the HR function, across reputed organizations like Godrej, ADNOC, British Gas and the Essar Group. She has also been the recipient of several awards and accolades in her domain of influence, which includes HR Director of the Year, 2015 at the prestigious HR Brilliance Awards, UK.
