The Right to Ask: IIM Ahmedabad in troubled waters

Trouble brewing for one of India’s leading institutions, according to market sources, IIM Ahmedabad is facing difficulty tackling queries stemming from the Right to Information Act (RTI). The number of RTI queries posed to the IIMs has known to increase at a rapid pace, especially after the CAT’s switch to online version faced difficulties last year. Students who failed to get an interview call have filed an alarming number of RTI and are pressing the Institute for details like CAT scores. IIM-Ahmedabad, was the coordinating institute for CAT 2009 along with IIM-Bangalore. The pressure has increased so much so that IIM Ahmedabad has included it as one of the agenda of its Board of Governors’ meetings more than once which will put the RTI queries under direct judgement of its Director.
