High-potential women still offered fewer top jobs

A new Catalyst report, ‘Good Intentions, Imperfect Execution’ states that high-potential women are offered fewer 'hot jobs' with visible projects, mission-critical roles and international experience as accountability to diversity is poor in organisations the world over. It states that though most organisations have leadership development courses, high-potential programmes, succession planning practices, mentoring and multi-rater feedback mechanisms, women's representation is still poor at senior levels. This study, however, showed the gender gap is not due to women's lack of ambition or taking time out to have children. However, many companies disagree that women are being offered fewer hot jobs saying that progressive organizations are taking efforts to close the gender gap across but it is a long term journey.
