There are many college graduates who have engineering degrees but lack relevant industry experience or do not have prior coding experience. A recent report by Aspiring Minds revealed that 80 percent of Indian engineers are not fit for any job in the knowledge economy. With a vision to help aspiring engineers be more job ready, Divyam Goel and Vaibhav Bajpai founded AttainU in 2018.

A step closer to reaching their goal, the edtech startup has raised angel funding from investors including Shailesh Rao ex-Google India Head, Nikhil Rungta ex-Intuit India Head, Anil Gelra - Founder, SnapMint and  Manish Kumar - Founder, KredX and LetsVenture.

Currently, it offers full-time, online 7-month long Software Engineering courses for users looking to get into Software Engineering careers and also provides career counselling as part of their student assessment process and connects graduates to industry partners for placement upon completion of the course. With the raised money, the startup will now look to further strengthen faculty, development of courses, counselling teams and build a semi-automated platform.

One of the investors, Nikhil Rungta, ex Intuit India MD believes that the team at AttainU has identified this huge unsolved problem and are trying to solve it in a tech-first, structured and scalable way.

“Overall, AttainU has the potential to be one of the biggest players in the area of industry-ready skill development and employment generation," exclaimed Rungta.

With post-college skilling market in India pegged at $370 Mn, and a majority of engineering graduates being not job-ready, AttainU has a huge opportunity to grow and a big challenge to solve.

In fact, going forward, AttainU might want to go beyond teaching basic skills and help engineers move in tune with the changing demands of the sector. The tech industry needs graduates to be equipped with skills in AI, Machine Learning (ML) and data science. Demand for these skills is emerging from all the sectors as more and more companies look to go digital with their business as well as internal processes.
