Bank of England looking for candidates, Raghuram Rajan is on the list

Bank of England looking for candidates, Raghuram Rajan is on the list

The UK based English daily Financial Times reported that the Bank of England is considering Raghuram Rajan, former Reserve Bank of India chief as one of the possible candidates who could work with the company at the top management. 

The article  in the British Newspaper says, "Attracting Raghuram Rajan, the highly respected Chicago-based economist and former Reserve Bank of India governor, would be a coup, as would securing Agustín Carstens, Mexico’s central bank chief and the new general manager of the Bank of International Settlements.”

The UK Chancellor, Philip Hammond is initiating the process to finalize the new governor of the Bank of England to replace Mark Carney in 2019. According to the report the chancellor has already begun to look for candidates in different international forums. 

It can be recalled that Raghuram Rajan is a senior economist and also the professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School. Rajan was also the twenty-third Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 2013 to 2016.
