Veteran HR leader, Dilpreet Singh retires after 38 years of journey in HR. He has been the Vice President & HR Head- India and South Asia at IBM since September 2013. Announcing his retirement, he says, “Now, I want to work in the area of higher education as this is the next big thing India needs to focus on.”

A seasoned HR professional, DP Singh started his career by joining Eicher as the HR Manager in 1980. He also carries an entrepreneurial experience of managing his own HR Consultancy. During this period, he was associated with the IT & ITEs sector in addition to other industries. DP Singh got into IBM with the acquisition of Daksh e-Services in 2004. 

We spoke to DP Singh on his inspiring 38 years of journey in HR. Singh states this journey has been enriching and a great learning experience. While talking with us, he recalls some of the remarkable points in his career. 

There have been many memorable points and this moment in my career is the most memorable as the love and affection that I received from IBM HR colleagues and business has been exceptional. When I look back, I began my career with the Eicher Group of Companies and my experience in Eicher was amazing and I still am a part of that alumni. My experiences in Middles East and Africa at IBM were enriching and full of learning. Working with Daksh (now concentrix) was a great mix of  work and fun fused together.”

He signs off with a message for the young aspiring HR: 

• Keep learning and build on your skill sets, enable business with talent insights that help them make important decisions
• Network
• Be inclusive
• Never compromise on integrity and be open to feedback.
