Naukri Job Index: BFSI sector saw 26% increase in hiring

The BFSI industry and Insurance sector saw a 26% and 17% YOY growth respectively in Mar 2017

As per the Naukri JobSpeak index, the BFSI sector grew the most during Mar’17 with a 26% increase in hiring as compared to Mar’16. Key industries like Construction and BPO/ITES saw a 9% growth, while IT-Software remained buoyant in Mar 2017 as compared to Mar 2016.

“Jobspeak index continues to move north with a 5% YOY growth in March 2017. Good to see sectors like Construction, Engineering & BFSI showing significant growth. Though there could be some short-term volatility, looks like the markets will gain momentum in the next few quarters,” commenting on report, Naukri.com

Hiring trends across Industries

 Insurance sector saw an increase of 17% YOY growth in Mar 2017. Construction and Engineering jobs increased by 9% during the same period.IT-Software Industry in India remained buoyant during Mar’17 as compared to Mar’16. Jobs in the Auto industry saw a 13% growth in Mar 2017 as compared to Mar 2016. While the BPO/ITES industry saw a 9% increase, the Telecom/ISP sector witnessed  15% fall in Mar 2017 as compared to Mar 2016. 

Hiring Trends across top cities 

The index for Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai saw a fall of 15%, 12%, 4% and 10% respectively as compared to Mar’16. Hiring activity in 8 out of 13 metro cities tracked, saw a dip during Mar’17 as compared to Mar’16. Senior Management (13-16 years of experience) hiring grew by 11% as compared to Feb’17.

 Data has been sourced from Naukri.com and it reflects  job listings and therefore hiring trends on the site. The index has been calculated based on job listings added to the site month on month. July 2008 has been taken as the base month with a score of 1000 and the subsequent monthly index is compared with data for July.
