Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), a Sector Skill Council formed under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has announced its plan to open 50 new Centres of Excellence (CoE) across India by 2020. These CoEs would be the flagship centers for innovation, micro-entrepreneur development, rural technology innovation & implements, advisory, consulting and skill development in the areas of electronics components & hardware, Nano-Electronics, Sports, and Bio-Mechanics. The Centers would also develop ‘Qualification Packs’ based on National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) through industry associations as a part of the Skill India initiative.

ESSCI has 13 industries sponsored Centres of Excellence/Training Centers to train the trainers and has recently opened its centers in Bhubaneswar, Guwahati & New Delhi.

N K Mohapatra, CEO, ESSCI said, “ESSCI is equipped to train the youth across the country’s geography and is capable of conducting assessments and certification for each region. We have placed over 1 lakh candidates in various top companies in ESDM space and have won industry recognition as a trend-setting and innovative organization in delivering integrated skilled training solutions across India.”

He also shared that currently, ESSCI has a network of 183 Training Partners with over 4013 Training Centres spread across the country, including the far-flung areas of the North East States and J&K. Additionally, ESSCI intends to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in the electronics space through an extensive partnership with IESA where it is playing a pivotal role to reach over 1 lakh relevant engineering students across 500 engineering colleges spanning India in the next 5 years.
