Skilling is key to India's growth: Ficci-KPMG report

Skilling is critical for a market like India to reap the benefits of its demographic dividend and shape future growth. A Ficci-KPMG white paper titled, 'Skilling India - A Look Back at the Progress, Challenges and the Way Forward', released on Thursday, drives this home. "India is turning out to be a high growth market, which will need employment in a big way. Also, with an ageing world population, young India has an opportunity to be the global supplier of manpower," says Narayanan Ramaswamy, partner and head, education and skill development, KPMG in India, in a release. "There is a strong intent from the new government to get all stakeholders aligned to the new ecosystem. However, coordination remains a key challenge. Clearly we need more action on the ground," adds A Didar Singh, Ficci secretary general.
