Mercer conducted a survey over past two quarters among nearly 30,000 workers in 17markets, including 2000+ workers in India

Mercer conducted a survey over past two quarters among nearly 30,000 workers in 17markets, including 2000+ workers in India. The survey, What’s Working™, which examines employee views on work, included more than 100 questions on a range of work-related topics and represents the overall demographics of the Indian workforce in terms of age, gender and job level.
Mercer research shows that employees in India are less committed to their employers and less satisfied with many aspects of the work experience. As a result, half of all Indian workers are seriously considering leaving their organization at the present time. Below are few figures:
• 54% employees seriously considering leaving their organization at the present time; women may be leading the exodus as 58% say they are considering leaving, versus 53% for men
• Just as troubling, and perplexing, younger workers are also considering to exit: 66% of employees under age 24 are seriously considering leaving and lead all age groups in satisfaction with their organisation at 82%
Mercer’s survey also drives home the importance of knowing employees views on work. Below are some of the key preferences of the Indian employees:
• Out of 13 possible reward elements, India respondents say that career advancement is their most important reward element.
• Indian workers place a great deal of importance on working for a respectable organization, which is listed as their fifth highest reward element followed by bonus or incentives
• 81% say they would recommend their organization to others as a good place to work
• Workers in India do not list benefits highly in their top rewards - 62% say benefits played a significant role in their decision to join the organization
