Companies scouting for women directors for their boards are being given a reality check. Unless potential women board members are convinced that they are being roped in for the value they bring, they are not keen to be on company boards. Under the new Companies Act provisions, companies need to have one woman director on their boards. Recent research by leadership consulting and search firm Egon Zehnder reveals women do not see the benefit of being on the board if they think the boards are not inclusive. Mentors such as Arun Duggal and M Damodaran who have been grooming potential women directors agree with research findings.
