Sirish Apte to be the new CEO of Citi in Asia Pacific

India born Shirish Apte has made it to the group of three to head the Asia operations of Citi Group. The announcement was made by Citi Group CEO, Vikram Pandit on Monday. According to the Citi Group, 56 old Apte along Stephen Bird be a part of the 3 member Asia Pacific team that will replace Ajay Banga who held the post as Asia Pacific CEO till 19 June before heading for MasterCard. The third person of the group is Shengman Zhang, the former Managing Director of World Bank and COO of Citigroup Investment Banking. He has been appointed as the Chairman of Citigroup’s Asia-Pacific operations.

Earlier, Apte had held several senior management posts including that of the Bank’s CEO of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa Citi markets and banking.
