However, the methodology and the procedure differ from level to level, thus making the approach more crucial. The top 2 layers consist of experienced professionals, who are well versed with the industry standards. Our senior management is the think tank of the organization, which strategizes new policies and plans and defines the future aspects of the company.
Learning & Development workshops are conducted to hone the overall skills and competencies of the senior management to ensure organizational growth. At CSC, we have role-based training framework catering to various competencies required to fit the right people into the right job. All our learning programs are developed around the Lominger Competencies and we use a blended approach in designing and delivering our programs. We use various learning aids like workshops, coaching relationships, virtual courses and reading material.
Leadership Development is one of our prime focus areas at CSC. Our talent management initiatives equip our managers to play a competitive role in order to drive a high performance culture. We encourage an atmosphere of continuous learning, guided by ongoing development discussions that explore employee aspirations. Thus, we have a series of leadership development programs like eCornell Executive Certificate Program, Linking Strategy to Financial Performance, Global Institute for Leadership Development and the Breakthrough Workshop and Leaders’ Success Profile.
ECornell Executive Certificate Program is created by the leading faculty from Cornell’s highly respected executive education programs at the Johnson Graduate School of Management. This program has four virtual courses designed to develop skills on how to integrate innovation and creativity into strategic thinking and decision-making. Each course is directly linked to CSC's growth strategy and combines a solid grounding in leadership research, with analysis, practice and collaboration.
Linking Strategy to Financial Performance is a virtual program to drive CSC’s business strategy and growth objectives.
Global Institute for Leadership Development (GILD) provides transformational growth in areas proven to differentiate superior leaders from average leaders.
Breakthrough Workshop is a two day program, which aims to equip managers with the ability to provide direction, vision, openness and trust; and thus be agents of renewal and growth across the organization.
There is huge thrust on learning and development and talent management at CSC in India and globally. Across different geographies, CSC has dedicated learning and talent management functions. Globally we have Chief Learning Officers, who exchange ideas and best practices across the globe.
We have a host of internal trainers who deliver both soft-skills and technical training programs. To enhance the internal expertise of the training team, we partner with external vendors. However, most of the learning programs are delivered by our own employees. The mode of learning could be instructor-led classroom session, virtual online classes, discussion forums and various other learning options.
From a statistical point of view, we have clear parameters in place, which we keep monitoring. We measure the results of our initiatives through a feedback mechanism and certain tools, dashboards and systems have been established to measure the effectiveness.
At CSC, we are cognizant of the fact that Goal Alignment is critical for business success and that it is extremely important for our employees to be aware of how their individual work contributes to the attainment of the overall organizational goals. To develop a deeper understanding and commitment to effective goal setting, as a way of bringing CSC strategy into everyone’s daily work focus, an annual program ‘Rejuvenate’ has been institutionalized. It is an initiative to enhance the communication along with increased team bonding. As part of this initiative, a series of goal setting workshops are conducted for the leadership and the extended leadership teams of various business units. The goals as identified in this program get translated into individual KRAs of each employee using the standardized KRA framework.
At CSC, we have standardized the KRAs using the following approach:
• Process starts by taking inputs from senior leaders from business
• The approved standard set of KRAs is shared with CSC India employees at the start of the appraisal year
• Customization of KRAs within the framework is possible with the consent of employees’ reporting manager
• The agreed upon KRAs are set on the online performance appraisal tool
To set effective KRAs, we have an internal session on Driving High Performance Culture through setting effective KRAs.
This is an on-line training for all managers and is hosted at our online learning tool-CSC Learning Place.
