Success with the Right State of Mind

The ability to mentally adapt to different situations in necessary in todays dynamic world
Success with the Right State of Mind

Benjamin Rajkumar, Manager – Leadership Development, Titan Company Ltd.

In his own words, this is what the ‘Are You In The List’ 2015 winner has to say about himself.

I am working towards building “a robust talent and leadership pipeline” at Titan Company Ltd., in my capacity as Manager – Leadership Development. I am a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and also hold a post graduate diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur.

Core differentiator: Ability to stay in the right emotional state of mind

I stay in the right emotional framework irrespective of the situation I am in. I also have the ability to quickly grasp the other person’s emotions and calibrate my response so that an effective conversation can be carried out.

Biggest talent priority: Getting the right people on the bus and in the right seats

This philosophy by Jim Collins is my biggest talent priority. People come with different abilities and potentials.Talent Management can truly be successful only when it can strike the right balance between potential, aspiration and organization requirement.

The one thing I will:

-Change in HR:Self-limiting thinking amongst HR professionals

HR impacts the business value stream, like any other function. I would like to infuse that feeling in HR. A starting point to this change would be to quantify the measurable value being created by the function.

- Retain in HR:The high-touch nature of the function

HR has the opportunity as a function to be the ears on the ground for the organization and its leadership. This helps in providing insights to leaders to enable them to make the right choices when it comes to people.

My ideas to disrupt HR:

HR transactions will be outsourced to technology and people activities like performance management, learning and development, recruitment etc. will be moved into the hands of people managers.

HR will continue to do some specialized work which will be served through an on-demand platform with which one can tap into a pool of HR specialists which could possibly extend beyond the organization.

All this will provide the HR Business Partners with time to do what they are truly called to do – partner with and impact business.
