The government appointed Alok Perti, R N Trivedi and Kamal Raj Gupta as independent directors on the board of Coal India Ltd (CIL) to fill up the posts lying vacant since August. Perti is the former coal secretary and held the post from 2011 to 2012. He was made an advisor to the ministry for few months after his retirement to maintain continuity in the ministry’s response to the Coalgate probe.
