7 out of 10 engineering students prefer Bangalore as first job city

In a survey conducted by Aspiring Minds Research Cell, which is an employability measurement and recruitment firm, seven out of every ten engineering students in India prefer Bangalore as their 'first job' city.

In a survey conducted by Aspiring Minds Research Cell, which is an employability measurement and recruitment firm, seven out of every ten engineering students in India prefer Bangalore as their 'first job' city.
72% of the respondents of the engineering students surveyed voted for Bangalore as the most preferred place to work in."In India, Bangalore is the engineers ‘Mecca’. It offers growth, options and a community of like-minded people. Bangalore has undoubtedly the largest base in terms of IT companies, opportunities and an existing engineering population,” said Himanshu Aggarwal, Founder and Director Aspiring Minds.
The ‘Silicon Valley of India’ was followed by Delhi which was preferred by 32% of the respondents, and Hyderabad which was the favourite among 30% of the students surveyed.
Home too many renowned colleges and research institutions in the country, Bangalore, a demographically diverse city, has always been a favourite with students and college goers. Other cities would have to compete with it on softer factors to really attract students. We think city planners need to join hands with corporate houses to focus on building a city’s employability brand. They would do well to read Richard Florida’s book The Rise of Creative Class on how to attract these workers.
