Flipkart reshuffles senior management

As the Big Billion Days sale draws to a close, Flipkart has promoted Jeyandran Venugopal as its Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO). This elevation is a part of a rearrangement within the senior management team at the company.

The product and engineering teams of Flipkart will now report to Venugopal, making it a major change in the organizational structure. Venugopal’s earlier role was that of a Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product. Prior to joining Flipkart, he was working as Myntra-Jabong’s CPTO till December 2018.

As Flipkart bolsters its technology capabilities in an increasingly competitive market, Jeyandran’s role will involve ensuring that the entire team is strengthened and equipped with new tech investments, according to Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group, in a statement.

Other executives have been promoted to senior vice presidents who form a part of the organization’s senior leadership team including Adarsh Menon, Flipkart’s head of private labels and electronics, Phanimohan Kalagara, VP of Engineering, and Sakait Chaudhary, who is in-charge of overseeing investor relations and financial planning.

Now that the Big Billion Days sale has come to a close, these changes have been initiated. Recently, Flipkart even distributed stock options to senior and mid-level employees and bought back vested shares after Walmart’s acquisition of India-based Flipkart.

As the e-commerce industry gears up for the festive season, there are several changes in senior management and top-level executives not only at Flipkart but also in Myntra-Jabong. Moreover, festive season sales are a way to gain a competitive edge over the rest for e-commerce industry players.
