POPxo, a media startup raises $ 2.7 million

 Women- focused media startup POPxo has successfully raised $2.7 million (approx Rs 18 crore) in a series –B round funding which was led by Japan's GREE Ventures.  The startup is hugely backed by Kalaari capital which also their existing investor along with IDG Ventures India.

The raised funds will be used to enhance POPxo products that feature news in different formats. They will also use the funding to add and create new digital features that will augment end user interaction. 

As per media, since POPxo is able to create a stir in the market through its large amount of traction, it will use brand integration over subscriptions to accelerate monetization.

Founded in 2014, POPxo is headquartered in Hauz Khas Village in New Delhi. It focuses on creating stories, videos and social media content based on women –centric topics. POPxo has worked with over 150 brands in 2016, including Tanishq, Lakme and Puma. 

In September last year, several women-oriented projects received increased crowdfunding. Startups such as Impact Guru, Wishberry and Ketto working on the women security and empowerment-oriented projects notably received good funding on their platforms. The campaigns related to women security products and empowerment raised around Rs 10 crore in the past year.

Also, another, women-focused platform- Sheroes.in, a jobs and career community for women raised Rs 12 crore investment from the Lumis Partners along with the HR Fund in august last year .Founded by Sairee Chahal as Fleximoms in 2011, the company rebranded itself to Sheroes.in in 2014.
