Lockout in Toyota

Production has halted in Toyota’s twin production units in Bangalore and the management has decided a lockout after a wage deal between the management and the employees union failed. The management has said that the lockout is a precautionary measure to ensure safety of machinery, employees, and management personnel. The union, however, called the lockout illegal because the management failed to serve the mandatory 14 day notice before the lockout.
