Tomar announces Rs 25 lakh for deceased in Bhilai accident

Union steel minister Narendra Singh Tomar has announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for each of those employees who lost their lives in Thursday’s accident at the Bhilai Steel Plant. The accident claimed six lives, including two deputy general managers, and a contract worker. A sum of Rs 10 lakh will be paid to the family of the contract worker killed in the accident. The minister, who visited the facilities at Bhilai on Friday, also assured jobs for the next of kin of the deceased employees, depending on the eligibility criteria. SAIL will also allow the families to retain housing and medical benefit. The SAIL management is due to take a call on the plant operations after a thorough inspection of the accident site.
