The women’s community platform, Sheroes has raised undisclosed sum from venture capital firm Leo Capital and angel investor Anand Chandrasekaran. Lumis Partners, Raghav Bahl and Ritu Kapur’s Quintillion Media and the HR Fund also participated in the round of funding.

“Sheroes has been able to take a platform approach for a very large, global demographic of users. Leo Capital was attracted by the combination of a deeply technical product and a strong brand that is easy to connect to,” said Rajul Garg, Founder and Managing Partner, Leo Capital.

Sheroes was founded by Sairee Chahal with the intent to build an online career destination for women from all walks of life. Sheroes’ genesis stemmed from Sairee’s belief that career is a maze and not a ladder as has been traditionally prescribed. And she wanted millions of women to navigate this maze successfully through any and all stages of their lives and keep on growing.

After receiving angel funding in 2015, Sheroes had raised INR 12 crore in a round of funding led by Gurugram-based investment firm Lumis Partners. The HR Fund, angel investor Rajul Garg (in his personal capacity) and Quintillion Media, had also participated in the round. Today, Sheroes aims to put 100 million women on the growth roadmap.

Besides the recent round of funding, Sheroes has also made some acquisitions recently. Last year, in August, it acquired online career restart platform Women Restart. In 2016, it had also bought Gharkamai, an online women-centric portal that assists them to find work opportunities from home. Also, it had acquired a health counseling platform LoveDoctor.in with the aim to broaden their community support.

Recently, in an interview with People Matters, Sairee said, “The big shift from jobs and careers to communities for women is happening on the platform. This is the power of gigs. There are over 100,000 gigs on the platform at any point in time."

As Sairee believes that communities on the internet are the next big thing, she along with her team continue in her endeavor to improve the product and the life of the community they serve.

Sheroes, launched in 2014 has a network of 5 Mn members, currently. The app, launched in January 2018, has also crossed 1 Mn downloads.
