2,000 Nokia staff opts for VRS
While employees of Nokia India’s Chennai facility knock on the doors of authorities seeking help saving their jobs, at least 2,000 of them have opted for the early retirement scheme offered by the mobile phone maker so far. Senior members of the factory's labour union told ET that the “apathy” of authorities and the fear of being left with no option has meant that many of them have chosen the voluntary retirement scheme.
