Pallavi Shroff appointed as independent director by Paytm board

Pallavi Shroff appointed as independent director by Paytm board

With her appointment as an independent director, at One97 Communications Ltd, the holding company of Paytm and e-commerce firm Paytm Mall, Pallavi Shroff becomes the seventh appointee to join the board. She brings with her an experience of over 34 years and is currently a managing partner at law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. 

Paytm founder and chief executive officer Vijay Shekhar Sharma said, “Mrs. Shroff is one of the most distinguished leaders of the legal and corporate fraternity in India. We are building our financial services business, and aim to provide access to lending, insurance and wealth management solutions to a large, under-served population. Her experience will be key to the next phase of our growth plans.” 

Pallavi Shroff has represented several private and public corporations in matters related to energy, infrastructure, natural resources, mergers and acquisitions, legislation and policy. She is part of the board of directors of various other firms like Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Apollo Tyres, Trident Group and Juniper Hotels Ltd. Now, with this new venture, she looks forward to guiding the board in legal matters.

 Commenting on her appointment, 

Pallavi Shroff said,“I look forward to serving on their board, and guiding them on matters related to governance law and regulations.”

The other members on the Paytm board include Kabir Misra, managing partner at Soft-Bank Capital, Joe Tsai, vice-chairman at Alibaba Group, Amit Singhal, a former Google executive, Mark Schwartz, vice-chairman of the Goldman Sachs Group and chairman of Goldman Sachs in Asia-Pacific, Ravi Adusumalli of SAIF Partners, and Eric Jing, CEO of Ant Financial.
