Japanese tech firm TechnoPro to hire 10,000 people in India by 2022-23

Japanese tech firm TechnoPro has announced it will hire 10,000 engineers and researchers for its campuses in India. The hiring will be spread over the next three years as per a company press release.

The announcement follows the launch of its global delivery centre in Bengaluru early this week. 

Director and managing executive officer of TechnoPro Holdings Inc, ShimaokaGaku stated, “The company has ambitious plans of expanding in India by setting up a Global Delivery and Technical Innovation Centre in Bengaluru and to ramp up employment.”

The company plans to make India move towards the usage of electric vehicles, away from fossil fuels. TechnoPro already has its centres in Hyderabad and Pune. TechnoPro believes that by initiating fast-charging solutions it would help build confidence among buyers of electric vehicles in India.

The company has appointed Jayant Kumar to head India operations. 

“The increasing demand for smart mobility has compelled us to look for high-end engineers. India is the only country that can help in keeping an excellent balance between demands and supply (for EVs),” said Kumar in a statement.

Kumar added that TechnoPro’s investment in India will occur in a phased manner to cater to the growing demands of complicated and complex technology and solutions with the help of the Indian talent base.

Started in 1997, TechnoPro boasts of 20,000 engineers in Japan working for 2,000 clients in transportation, IT, telecom, machinery, and electronics. Nisan, Toyota, IBM, Softbank, Hitachi are some of its customers. The firm is valued at $2.2 Bn with a presence in Malaysia and Singapore besides Japan. 

TechnoPro’s investment is in line with many foreign firms setting up bases in India to leverage the country’s vast engineering talent. In August this year, Washington-based company, Apptio announced plans to expand in India. The cloud computing and financial management software firm plans to triple its team of data scientists and developers in Bengaluru by the end of 2019.
