Travel e-commerce companies planning to hire 1,500 people

With the travel market showing signs of promise, companies such as Goibibo, TravelTriangle and iTraveller are planning to double their headcounts in the next year or so.

New Delhi: Half a dozen travel ecommerce companies are hiring about 1,500 people in the next 12 months, at a time when most startups are struggling to stay alive. Most of the hiring is likely to be in technology, product development and marketing.

With the travel market showing signs of promise, companies such as Goibibo, TravelTriangle and iTraveller are planning to double their headcounts in the next year or so. Some of the other established players — Yatra, MakeMyTrip and Cleartrip — are also ramping up their technology teams. With frequent flash sales making airfares more affordable and easy customisation of trip packages, leisure travel has emerged as the next big trend. Employees and organisations, too, have been bitten by the travel bug in order to beat workplace pressures and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
