MGNREGA workers eye alternate skills

Beauty parlour work, hairdressing and garment making have emerged as some of the most sought-after skills among beneficiaries of the rural jobs programme under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Although agriculture related activities remain the dominant choice among workers looking for wage employment, a large number of people are keen to explore such alternate options.
