According to the Experis IT Employment Outlook Survey, information tech companies is likely to accelerate hiring pace by 76% over the next four months December 2016-March 2017) across the country.

What is the study?

The survey by Experis IT, an arm of HR consulting firm ManpowerGroup India, is relevant for both job-seekers and employers. The study was conducted with over 1,000 top and mid-tier employers, including IT and ITeS companies indicating optimistic hiring intentions of Indian IT employers for the period December2016-March2017.

Outcome of the study

  • The strongest labour market is expected to be in the Southern region with an employment outlook of 34 percent, followed by West 20 percent, North 18 percent and East 3 percent.

  • In an ever growing world of technological changes, there will be a need for constant upskilling and reskilling among job-seekers. This would be particularly relevant as 48 percent of employers in India reported difficulty filling jobs and 'IT personnel' is on the top spot of the top-10 employers having difficulty filling in India.

  • Indian IT employers are looking for candidates in the middle-level experience slab (3-8 years), with 24% of the total respondents stating “.NET skill” would lead the demand over the next few months.

  • Whereas 22% of IT firms are looking for candidates with multiple skillsets -a combination of niche and complex IT skills.


Conclusion

The hiring outlook is positive for the first quarter January-March 2017, after facing a dip in October and November. Although technology and automation has engulfed the IT sector impacting manpower to a great extent, this survey reports a sentiment of optimism in the hiring intentions of Indian IT employers. The labour market outlook is bright and professionals are hoping for increased job opportunities.
