Boeing sheds 1,000 staff in its defence arm

Citing the drop in demand in the US federal defense budget, world’s largest Airplane manufacturer, Boeing announced its decision to cut 1000 jobs from its Integrated Defence Systems. Currently, Integrated Defense Systems employs around 70,000 people who are tasked with manufacturing various defense equipments and gadgets for US government. Boeing, along with Lockheed Martin is a major supplier of defense equipment for the US government. The cut in the defense budget that followed the takeover of White house by Obama administration, led to reduction of total budgetary allocation for Future Combat systems programme, and the US's Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) programme.
