Asian Paints ranks 18 in Forbes’ 100 Innovative companies list

In the recently released Forbes Top 100 Innovative Companies List 2016, Hindustan Unilever, TCS, Sun Pharma and L&T are the other four which made it to the top 100.

Asian Paints is the only Indian organization to be featured in the top 20 in the recently released Forbes Top 100 Innovative companies. The company has been ranked 18 in the Forbes’ list. Other Indian companies which made the cut in the top 100 are – Hindustan Unilever (31), Tata Consultancy Services (66), Sun Pharma (73), and Larsen & Toubro (89). The top honour went to Tesla Motors followed by Salesforce.com and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in the second and third spots respectively. 

“Companies are ranked by their innovation premium: the difference between their market capitalization and the net present value of cash flows from existing businesses (based on a proprietary algorithm from Credit Suisse HOLT). The difference between them is the bonus given by equity investors on the educated hunch that the company will continue to come up with profitable new growth,” Forbes said in a press release.

Forbes also mentioned about their methodology on how they ranked these organizations. According to the Forbes, “companies are ranked by their innovation premium: the difference between their market capitalization and the net present value of cash flows from existing businesses (based on a proprietary algorithm from Credit Suisse HOLT). The difference between them is the bonus given by equity investors on the educated hunch that the company will continue to come up with profitable new growth . “The World’s Most Innovative Companies list demonstrates creative disruption and how new players come in, innovate and garner the attention of investors. Innovation upstarts Under Armour Inc. (No.6) and Monster Beverage Corp. (No. 7) are dethroning former innovation leaders in their field like Nike and Coca Cola (No. 93). The same could be said for Amazon (No. 11) outdistancing Walmart,” Forbes said.
