GMR Group names ex-GE executive as Group CISO

Bithal Bhardwaj has moved on from GE to join GMR Group as the Group Chief Information Security Officer. He will be based out of New Delhi.

Bhardwaj has served in GE for 13 years in various capacities, with the last being as CISO-Global regions. In his latest position, he was Regional CISO leader, leading all regions outside of North America, including Latin America, Russia, Europe, MENAT, Sub Sahara Africa, Asia Pacific, South Asia & Greater China. Prior to that, he was GE South Asia & China and India Cybersecurity hub leader

An alumnus from the University of Pune, Bhardwaj has also worked with other organizations such as Genpact and Satyam Computer Services.

 In total, Bhardwaj has more than 21 years of experience in managing cybersecurity in various industries globally, which he brings with himself to the GMR Group. Founded in 1978, the infrastructure conglomerate that now ranks as the 4th largest private airport developer in the world and a major contributor to the Indian power sector.

Cyber security is now becoming a major priority for all companies in the rising digital economy. As per reports, India’s cybersecurity market is expected to grow to $35 Bn by 2025 and thus the demand for cybersecurity experts is going to rise in the next five years.
