Over 60% of Indian educators embrace AI in classrooms
A new report from TeamLease EdTech reveals a significant shift in Indian education, with over 60% of educators already embracing AI tools in their classrooms. The report, titled "Revolutionising Classrooms: The Impact of Generative AI on the Future of Education," surveyed over 6,000 educators across India, ranging from school teachers to university professors.
The findings highlight the potential of AI in education, with 64.87% of educators recognising its ability to transform learning experiences and personalise education.
AI is already being used by 61.60% of educators for tasks like teaching, preparation, and student engagement.
However, the report also underscores concerns about the ethical implications of AI in education. 87.85% of educators advocate for government regulation and monitoring of AI development and application.
Despite this, the majority of educators believe that AI is crucial for preparing students for an AI-dominated future, with 70.85% suggesting that AI's influence will be even more profound than the smartphone revolution.
TeamLease EdTech CEO, Shantanu Rooj, emphasises that the report provides a roadmap for responsible AI adoption in education, while co-founder Neeti Sharma highlights the focus on augmenting human potential rather than replacing it.
The report aims to provide insights to schools, colleges, universities, policymakers, and other stakeholders, to integrate AI into education while addressing ethical concerns.
