India's new PM creates a Ministry of Entrepreneurship

Recognising the importance of skill development and entrepreneurship in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a new ministry to boost jobs and skilled professionals in the country. The Ministry of Entrepreneurship will be headed by Sarbananda Sonowal, an MP from the Lakhimpur constituency of Assam, who will be the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Recognising the importance of skill development and entrepreneurship in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a new ministry to boost jobs and skilled professionals in the country. The Ministry of Entrepreneurship will be headed by Sarbananda Sonowal, an MP from the Lakhimpur constituency of Assam, who will be the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The formal structure of the ministry is yet to be released as “we are still getting clarity on the ministry”, said Sonowal in a statement. At an event today, The Economic Times said Modi stated the country need to focus on skill, scale and speed to revive India’s growth. He also called on universities to analyse the developmental process in India and contribute in making more informed policy-related decisions.
