Walmart Labs to hire 2800 employees in India

Walmart’s retail arm Walmart Labs is planning to hire more than 2800 employees in India, according to a report. The company is planning to hire around 800 people for their operations in Chennai and 2000 new hires will be joining the Bengaluru center. 

The Chennai center will incorporate data engineers and work in the direction of machine learning and data science. The group will also develop analytical products for verticals like marketing, finance, supply chain, pricing, customer, and HR.

Amazon and Walmart have up their game in terms of hiring new employees amid the pandemic. One on hand the online and offline retailer are hiring more and people across locations while on the other hand, both the companies are consolidating their tech arms. 

In March, Walmart announced that the company is planning to hire more than 150,000 hourly workers in the United States, given the rise in the number of shoppers due to the coronavirus pandemic. Amazon made a similar move announcing it would hire 100,000 warehouse and delivery workers in the United States as the virus outbreak boosts online orders.

The tech arm is consolidating its presence in India by hiring and acquiring relevant startups. It can be recalled that the company has acqui-hired health tech startup FloCare and B2B wholesale trading platform BigTrade to upbeat the skills of the team.
