TechHR Pulse Mumbai: Technological advancements must keep humanity at the core of workplaces

Technological advancements have redefined the way we work and the workplaces we inhabit. Yet, amidst this transformation, companies must not lose sight of the human element—the driving force behind workplace progress and the backbone of any organization.

The sixth annual Employee Experience Trends report by Qualtrics reveals significant EX improvements in 2024 across Hong Kong, Japan, and New Zealand. While pay and benefits remain important, employees are increasingly updating their expectations to align with new workplace realities. Psychological contracts are evolving, and employers are expected to understand and support their workforce in doing great work amid constant change.

The report highlights that it’s no longer just about communication or paychecks. Instead, organizations must partner with employees to navigate and proactively address the daily challenges of work. This involves understanding what employees need to perform their roles effectively and creating an environment that fosters engagement, productivity, and well-being.

Strategically, the report emphasizes empowering leaders and managers. Modern Experience Management (XM) approaches go beyond problem-solving to embed human-centric insights into daily operations. By leveraging data, organizations can uncover novel insights, automate workflows, and design innovative processes that meet employees’ evolving needs.

“Engagement and well-being soar when employees feel they are working towards a positive future and supported in adapting to change. This isn’t a nice-to-have—it’s the only way to ensure sustainable productivity and reduced complexity,” says Cecelia Herbert, Principal Behavioural Scientist.

Interestingly, the report finds that employees under 25 are the most engaged and optimistic among all age groups. These young professionals are eager to add value, make an impact, and contribute to their organizations’ futures.
