Marriott International reported revenues of nearly $14 billion in fiscal year 2014.

Marriott is committed to hiring a diverse workforce and sustaining an inclusive culture. Marriott’s managers and leaders take a personal interest in each associate, creating a ‘home away from home’ environment. They lead activities such as celebrating birthdays, organizing sports tournaments and hosting cultural activities in all of our hotels. As Mr. Marriott says, “Take care of your associates, they will take care of our customers and the customers will come back.”

The company stresses on individual development and offers resources and encouragement so associates have what they need to develop to their full potential. In the Middle East, Marriott associates average 78 hours of training and 34 hours of professional development annually. Development of the team begins on Day One of employment, with comprehensive learning programs, which support both the technical aspects of their role and the people side of the business.

With the changing workforce mix, Marriott has given special importance to the tech savvy GenY and launched a series of innovative new technologies and programs. New Marriott.com career site was launched in 12 languages, featuring user-friendly search technology available in multiple languages. The first-ever Marriott mobile career site was launched for iPhones, Androids, tablets and non-touch devices as well. “Stay in Touch” technology provides job alerts and exclusive email content to users that opt in from the new desktop and mobile career sites or social media. The company’s social media presence has helped to grow the Marriott Jobs and Careers Facebook page, which has more than one million fans.

Peter Schiffrin, Chief Human Resources Officer, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, says, “Being a Marriott associate means feeling the power of belonging. We feel it each and every day. It comes from being recognized. It comes from knowing Marriott sees talent in each of us. And, it comes from working together, as a family, to make our guests feel as much at home as we do. It’s why so many of our associates come for a job, but stay for a career. This is our competitive advantage.”
