Network 18 and Viacom 18 appoint Rahul Joshi and Sudhanshu Vats as MD

Indian news channel company which operates channels such as CNN News 18, News 18 India and Viacom 18 Network which operates entertainment channels such as Colors, MTV has elevated Rahul Joshi and Sudhanshu Vats as Managing Director, respectively. 

In a stock exchange filing on Monday evening, Network 18 said, “We would like to inform you that the Board of Directors of the Company has inter-alia, appointed Rahul Joshi as Director of the Company, liable to retire by rotation." 

Further, the Board of Directors has also appointed Rahul Joshi as Managing Director of the Company for a term of three years with effect from July 9, 2018. 

Rahul Joshi is associated with Network18 Group since September 2015 and is CEO - News & Group Editor in Chief. Before joining Network18 Group, he worked for more than two decades with Economic Times as Editorial Director. 

The Board of Viacom18 Media Private Limited (Viacom18), the entertainment broadcasting arm of Network18, has decided to appoint Sudhanshu Vats as its Managing Director on receipt of necessary regulatory approvals. 

Sudhanshu Vats is associated with Viacom18 from last six years and is the Group CEO of Viacom18. Before joining Viacom18, Sudhanshu  Vats spent about 20 years in Hindustan Unilever (Unilever India) where he worked in Sales & Marketing and General Management roles across categories.

Commenting on this development, Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman of Network18 and TV18 said “Both the appointees have tremendous skill and experience and will continue to drive our news and entertainment businesses towards leadership, as we continue to invest in these areas.”
