Days after being appointed by the Swiss drug-maker, Jawed Zia has joined the rival drug company Abbott India as the Vice-President. As earlier reported by People Matters, Zia’s resignation came last week which was fifteen days after being appointed as the Managing Director of the company.

Zia joined Novartis in the year 1997 as the Senior Brand Manager and was appointed as the Country President for the India region in the year 2014. He has been associated with the global healthcare industry for nearly three decades. At Novartis, he held leadership roles across a myriad of diverse developed and emerging markets.

At Novartis, he had a successful career where he worked across various functions of Market Research, Brand Management, Marketing Management, Division Management and Area Management and at various geographies-Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Singapore, Canada, Switzerland and now in India.

He started his career as a Management Trainee at Ceiba-Geigy, Dublin.  He is a graduate in Clinical Pharmacology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and holds an MBA from Trinity College, Dublin.
