After TCS and Infosys, Wipro mandates in-office work 3 days a week, effective Nov15

Wipro has issued a warning to employees, stating that there will be consequences for those who consistently fail to adhere to the new hybrid work policy.
After TCS and Infosys, Wipro mandates in-office work 3 days a week, effective Nov15

Wipro recently notified its employees that, commencing on November 15, a mandatory hybrid work policy will be in effect. Under this policy, employees are required to be present in the office for a minimum of three days each week.

The communication from Wipro, sent on November 6, aligns with actions taken by counterparts like TCS and Infosys. These companies have made it mandatory for their employees to work from the office for five days a week and ten days in a month, respectively.

"Starting November 15, all employees must be present at their assigned office location for at least three days each week. This change aims to enhance teamwork, facilitate face-to-face interactions, and strengthen Wipro's culture," read the mail from Wipro's Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil, reported Moneycontrol.

The email also mentioned that the change in policy is expected to improve communication, facilitate the prompt resolution of issues, promote team building and collaboration, and strengthen relationships among colleagues.

Nevertheless, the company will tailor this approach to align with the laws and agreements of each country and region. In certain European countries, it may involve consultations with employee representation groups to establish specific guidelines.

Furthermore, Wipro has cautioned employees that there will be repercussions for those who consistently do not comply with the new hybrid work policy, beginning on January 7, 2024. "We firmly believe that accountability is essential for the success and growth of our organisation", the mail said.

Commencing from January 7, 2024, potential consequences may encompass a loss of trust and credibility with managers and leaders, diminished performance and work quality, heightened stress levels, increased conflicts, and team dissatisfaction.

Furthermore, Wipro reserves the right to implement disciplinary actions as deemed necessary. Wipro recorded the slowest growth compared to its peers in the second quarter. With the company's profits and revenue declining, and a less optimistic Q3 guidance, analysts anticipate that Wipro's FY24 top-line growth may rank among the lowest when compared to Tier-1 IT services firms, including TCS and Infosys.
